Store Cupboard Quick Fixes – Dark Chocolate


When in need of an indulgent chocolate fix, try these rich and devilishly delicious treats.

Split a croissant, place a couple of chocolate squares inside, put on a baking tray and quickly heat through in a hot oven until the chocolate has melted.

Take a mug of milk, warm in a pan with 4 pieces of chocolate and stir until dissolved. Add sugar to taste and flavour with finely grated orange zest, vanilla extract or a sprinkling of ground cinnamon. Serve piping hot or cooled over ice.

Melt chocolate in a microwave or in a double boiler and use it for dipping strawberries, salty pretzels or drizzled over vanilla ice cream. Or use to make chocolate bark, by evenly spreading melted chocolate on a parchment-lined tray, sprinkling with a mixture of seeds, chopped nuts and dried fruits. Chill until set.

Tip unsweetened popcorn on a baking tray, drizzle with melted chocolate and chill in the fridge until hardened.
