Places are filling up fast for Marlborough College’s annual Summer School from 12 July to 8 August 2020. Whether you are looking for a stress-free staycation with family or friends, childcare options over the summer or even chance to learn a new skill yourself, this unique event promises an enriching time for all.
Now in its 46th year, Marlborough College Summer School is one of the largest multigenerational learning experiences of its kind. In addition to more than 370 adult courses, there is an impressive range of activities to entertain young people aged from three to 17 years. As well as staying at the College with their families, young people are welcome to attend Summer School as day students. It therefore offers an ideal childcare option, especially as eligible working parents can use Childcare Vouchers or the new tax-free scheme, Childcare Choices towards courses.
While Junior Troopers (3-6 years) and Children’s Activities (6-9 years) adopt the multi-activity approach with a packed programme of arts and crafts, music, sports and outdoor games, older children and teenagers can choose a morning and afternoon course that they continue all week. The 2020 line-up features well-loved courses such as Outdoor Adventures, Tennis, Water Polo, Horse Riding and Stay Alive Survival. Meanwhile, new activities set to be popular choices for youngsters this year include, Games and Animation Coding, Mosaics, Henna Art, Song-Writing, a Horrible Histories inspired course, Gruesome Grub and Gory Stories and even a Spy Agency!
Besides promising a memorable experience for children and young people, Summer School also offers grown-ups an opportunity to enjoy some time to themselves and escape in a favourite pastime or discover something new. New adult courses for 2020 encompass everything from Macramé to Pilates, Modernist literature to Bee Keeping, Counselling Skills to Interior Design and Lebanese Cooking to Declutter for Good with the Konmari Method™.
You can choose to attend Summer School from Monday to Friday as a day student or make your experience truly immersive and stay throughout. Full board accommodation is available at the College, plus resident students enjoy free admission to all lectures and evening entertainment, which this year stars the likes of Janet Street-Porter, Kate Adie, Only Men Aloud and the ELO Experience. Not to mention take advantage of the excellent indoor swimming pool and state-of-the-art gym, after indulging in all the delicious meals and teatime treats served by Summer School’s talented chefs!
